Responsibilities

Develop an understanding of the trends and issues affecting the California strawberry industry
Gather, clean, and organize data from multiple sources to ensure accuracy and reliability
Analyze datasets to identify trends, patterns, opportunities, and anomalies, to support the strawberry agriculture community
Create, schedule, and manage reports and business intelligence products to aid in daily business processes, decision making or support, and in support of strawberry farming
Gather, analyze, translate and document business needs into technical specifications for process development or improvement, data solutions, web and application development and related solutions
Participate in survey creation, implementation, analysis, and presentations
Appropriately maintain documentation including but not limited to data sources, data schemas, methodologies, user manuals, training material, standard operating procedures (SOP), workflow and process diagrams
Support data governance and best practices across the organization
A commitment to ongoing professional development of data and business analysis skills and knowledge
Other duties and responsibilities assigned to the impromptu needs of the commission

Required

Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, economics, statistics, mathematics or a related discipline
Familiarity with data analysis tools including Power Bi (or Tableau), and MS SQL or the ability to learn
Advanced capabilities (power queries, power pivot) with Microsoft Excel
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to manage multiple projects
Demonstrated ability to analyze data, identify trends, and interpret graphs
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Ability to function efficiently and effectively in a deadline-oriented environment where priorities may change and are driven by external factors
Strong interpersonal communications skills and ability to be an effective team member and work within a multi-cultural environment and with a cross-functional team including PhD scientists, department managers, strawberry farmers, and field personnel
Excellent proofreading skills, with an eye for detail
Good communication skills: ability to explain technical projects in simple terms
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Ability to calculate basic math functions including, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
Ability to lift up to 50lbs
Must be authorized to work in the United States
Valid CA Driver's License

Preferred

Biliterate in English and Spanish
Experience with Python or R
Previous experience with agriculture
