Law Practice
Responsibilities
Draft federal and state court motions and memos, and research law in multiple jurisdictions, including international, to inform upcoming court filings
Execute on internal projects on eDiscovery, hearing preparations, and moot exercises, typically involving defamation, business torts, and advisory work
Attend & contribute to weekly litigation pulse meetings
Prepare for and attend at least one trial or evidentiary hearing (court schedule permitting)
Write a 15-25 page research project on a complex or emerging legal issue of mutual interest to MLG attorneys & the Summer Fellow
Present findings to MLG attorneys
Attend professional networking events with MLG attorneys
Join discussion lunches on law, risk, and complexity
Participate in one firm-wide service event dedicated to the benefit of others in our community
Qualification
Required
Possesses strong legal writing and research skills
Demonstrates curiosity, initiative, and intellectual independence
Enjoys working through complex problems, ambiguous facts & case dynamics, incomplete datasets, and judgment-driven litigation
Seeks substantive work rather than clerical assignments
Shows interest in torts, defamation, business disputes, or litigation strategy
