The State of South Dakota is seeking a highly skilled professional to join their Department of Social Services as an Accountant I or II. This role provides the opportunity to gain government accounting experience while assisting in various financial processes and developing analytical skills.

Responsibilities
Assist in the year-end accrual process
Complete the preparation cash management reports
Track and monitor expenditures including providing statistical information and analysis
Review payments and financial documents
Drawdown of Federal Funds
Help test and learn the new ERP accounting system from the ground floor
Qualification
Required
for the A1 classification a 4-year Accounting Degree, coursework in accounting, or seasoned vocational accounting practitioner who has familiarity with accounting principles is required
for the A2 classification a 4 year accounting degree and 1-2 years of progressive experience equivalent to Level 1 accountant is required
Preferred
knowledge of Generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), practices, and standards
knowledge of the preparation and maintenance of financial records and reports
proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and other applicable accounting software
