Responsibilities

Serve as a lead fiscal specialist providing advanced accounting support for the Division of Public Health, including the Director’s Office, Rural and Community Health Systems (RCHS), and major workforce programs such as State Loan Repayment Program (SLRP) and Healthcare Workforce Enhancement Program (HWEP)
Manage complex financial operations—accounts payable/receivable, reconciliations, encumbrances, journal entries, contracts, RSAs, budget monitoring, and quality assurance reports—while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely processing
Support annual budget development and financial reporting by researching funding sources, maintaining tracking tools, assisting with Federal Financial Reports (FFRs), and ensuring alignment with state and federal requirements
Oversee payroll accuracy for assigned sections by reviewing timesheets, correcting coding issues, training staff, resolving payroll errors, and maintaining secure documentation
This position requires strong communication and customer service skills to work collaboratively with colleagues and program staff, assess their fiscal and operational needs, provide accurate information and assistance, resolve problems, and ensure high-quality financial services that support program goals

Required

Two years of technical level accounting or bookkeeping experience, of which at least one year was at the full-proficiency level
