Responsibilities

Support state and local income, franchise and indirect tax compliance, including workpapers, filings and apportionment analysis
Perform SALT research, monitoring legislative changes and providing practical guidance to engagement teams and clients
Assist with state tax planning, nexus reviews and exposure analyses with a focus on REIT structures and compliance requirements
Review state tax provisions, including ASC 740 analysis, state modifications and uncertain tax positions
Experience with REIT qualification testing, distribution calculations and state filing implications for REIT entities

Required

Prior public accounting experience
Active CPA or EA to be considered for the Manager role
Ability to work on site in Chicago, Illinois or Charlotte North Carolina three days a week
Strong knowledge of state and local income, franchise and indirect tax rules, with hands-on experience supporting multistate taxpayers
Demonstrated REIT experience, including qualification testing, distribution requirements and state filing implication
Ability to analyze complex state tax issues, perform technical research and clearly communicate findings to engagement teams
Proficiency with ASC 740 concepts, state modifications and provision support
