Prescribed Fire GIS Intern
The Nature Conservancy is dedicated to protecting the lands and waters upon which all life depends. The Prescribed Fire GIS Intern will support efforts to digitize and map conservation data in GIS, focusing on historical prescribed fire records and contributing to various GIS-related tasks.

Responsibilities
Works under close or infrequent supervision
Work, collaborate, and communicate effectively with colleagues, providing and obtaining needed information
Duties are performed according to instructions or established practices; supervisor will resolve any problems or questions
Work environment involves only infrequent exposure to disagreeable elements and minor physical exertion and/or strain
Manage, maintain, and populate databases using computer spatial or tabular based management skills
This position will require attendance at an intern cohort orientation in Madison, Wisconsin on June 4, 2026
May attend an overnight TNC Wisconsin All Staff retreat scheduled for June 15 – 18, 2026
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or GED and 6 months of related experience
Experience following instructions from colleagues/coworkers/team members
Experience performing administrative duties emphasizing detail-oriented and numerical tasks, including data entry and cross-referencing information from multiple sources
Experience, coursework, or other training using ESRI ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, or other GIS software
Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and web browsers
Preferred
Demonstrated experience using ESRI ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online to edit, maintain, and map geospatial data
Demonstrated experience cross-referencing and compiling information from various sources such as paper records and digital files
Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated
