Director of Retail Operations

Responsibilities
Provide overall leadership and direction for SavOn Convenience Stores, Maple Leaf Markets, commissary operations, and distribution operations, ensuring consistent execution and strong operational performance across all locations
Own operational performance and profitability, including P&L management, labor optimization, cost controls, and achievement of financial targets
Provide strategic and operational leadership for foodservice and commissary operations, positioning food as a key growth driver across Maple Leaf Markets and SavOn locations
Lead, develop, and engage operations leadership and store teams; foster a culture of accountability, safety, service excellence, and continuous improvement
Ensure all business units operate in a safe, compliant, and ethical manner; establish regular training, audits, communications, and refreshers to ensure compliance with Oneida Nation Ordinances and all applicable regulations, including food safety, alcohol and tobacco sales, fuel safety, and gaming controls
Continuously monitor store operations and provide direction to ensure each location meets or exceeds expectations for cleanliness, customer service, labor management, efficiency, sales growth, and profitability
Frequently visit business locations to build strong relationships with teams and maintain deep understanding of operations, guests, and local market conditions
Develop and execute a multi-year strategy for expanding and evolving the foodservice portfolio, including Valori Pizzeria, menu innovation, commissary capabilities, equipment investments, and new food concepts
Work collaboratively with support departments (Marketing, Technology, People & Culture, Finance, Legal, etc.) to improve operational effectiveness and execute enterprise initiatives
Recommend and implement approved strategies to increase business profitability, improve the guest experience, and drive operational innovation
Oversee fueling operations, ensuring competitive pricing of fuel and propane and maintaining strong supplier relationships to ensure adequate supply
Oversee tobacco programs to ensure competitive pricing, effective merchandising, and adequate supply to meet guest demand
Provide strategic and operational leadership for the Valori Pizzeria brand, including menu development, operational standards, training, quality control, brand consistency, and expansion within Maple Leaf Markets and SavOn locations
Develop and implement comprehensive quality assurance standards across foodservice operations, including food safety, recipe execution, presentation, and brand standards for Valori Pizzeria
Partner with the Marketing Department to position foodservice and Valori Pizzeria as destination offerings and to support effective marketing campaigns and promotions
Ensure appropriate onboarding, training, and ongoing development of staff and leaders, and maintain clear accountability for achieving the organization’s core service standards
Oversee employee performance management processes, including coaching, counseling, and corrective action as needed
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field
Prefer ten years of overall experience in multi-unit retail, convenience store, foodservice, or hospitality operations, with at least five years in a senior management role overseeing multiple locations
Demonstrated experience managing P&L performance, driving operational efficiencies, and improving profitability
Experience leading teams through growth and change while maintaining operational discipline and compliance
Experience with foodservice or restaurant-quality programs strongly preferred
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Valid driver's license
Ability to stand/walk for long periods of time and lift up to 21 - 30 pounds
