Responsibilities

Assists in the operations of the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Legislative Affairs performing various administrative studies that require knowledge and skill in applying analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to issues concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of administrative programs
Develops and improves the effectiveness of the administrative work methods and procedures, information and documentation systems
Maintains internal control of staff and administrative actions throughout the Office of the Assistant Secretary of War for Legislative Affairs (OASD(LA))
Assists with reviewing, analyzing, and evaluating travel budget requests and estimates. Prepare travel orders and assists personnel with processing travel vouchers

Required

U.S. Citizenship is required
Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service
May be required to successfully complete a probationary/trial period
Must be determined suitable for federal employment
Required to participate in the direct deposit program
This position is subject to pre-employment and random drug testing
This position may require you to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI)
This position may require travel away from your normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft or other modes
The incumbent may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays and/or mandatory overtime
The incumbent must possess and maintain a current driver's license from one of the 50 States, the District of Columbia, or Puerto Rico, where domiciled or principally employed to operate government owned vehicles
The incumbent is required to pass a pre-employment and physical examination once every 4 years for this position
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service that demonstrates your ability to: 1) providing day-to-day administrative support functions such as filing and records maintenance, office inventory, etc; 2) Managing critical timelines or events are met utilizing a task management system; and 3) Preparing reports summarizing findings of gathered information
I have a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related from an accredited college or university
I have the specialized experience as described in A, but less than one year; and I have at least one year of graduate education as described in B, but less than the required two years
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service that demonstrates your ability to: 1) applying the policies, procedures, and processes, and regulatory guidelines of day-to-day administrative support functions; 2) Preparing reports summarizing the analysis of findings; and 3) Assisting in improvement of administrative work methods and procedures, information, and documentation systems
I have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related from an accredited college or university
I have the specialized experience as described in A, but less than one year; and I have at least one year of graduate education as described in B, but less than the required two years
