Temporary Recuperative Care Operation Specialist

The Shelter Association of Washtenaw County is dedicated to ending homelessness and is seeking a Temporary Recuperative Care Operation Specialist. This role is responsible for the smooth operation of the offsite Recuperative Care program, ensuring client safety and coordinating care for individuals recovering from medical needs.

Responsibilities

Interact with clients in a non-judgmental ethical manner (see NASW Code of Ethics)
Responsible for the operation of the offsite Recuperative care program, currently located at a local hotel
Be familiar with and implement SAWC policies and procedures
Ensure all current clients are present upon arrival and departure of the program site
Conduct hotel room checks for cleanliness, safety concerns, and routine medication prompting
Prepare and distribute client lunches. Along with picking up client dinners from the Delonis Center
Provide transport for clients and/or other errands with approval of supervisor
Supportive, empathetic, confidential listening and offering clients general assistance
Document various client information and activities in HMIS and staff notes professionally and appropriately
Support the light administrative tasks including, documentation and tracking needed for the program
Responsible for light cleaning in the staff hotel room and the ordering of supplies and meals for the clients
Welcome and orient new clients to the rules and responsibilities of the program including how your role can support their stay
Appropriate communication with the Recuperative Care Coordinator regarding client Leaves of Absences, Late Arrivals, and other client policy questions
Participate in Care Coordination Committee meetings when on shift and additional all staff meetings and trainings
Must be willing to work holidays if necessary
Must be on time for work and use a time clock to document hours

Required

Associates Degree, professional certification, or alternative equivalent experience
Knowledge of housing, mental health, chemical dependency, and poverty issues helpful
Experience in social work, social services, or human services helpful as well
Be reliable

Utilize good judgment
Be both welcoming and assertive
Be culturally competent
Able to be mindful of personal boundaries, ethical obligations, and the primacy of client needs
Mature in nature and professional in action
