Community Action Partnerships of Western Nebraska (CAPWN) is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving low-income and disadvantaged individuals. The Accountant will ensure timely and accurate maintenance of financial records and reports, manage budget compliance, and support grant financial processes.

Responsibilities
Maintain accurate accounting records
Reconcile general ledger accounts
Ensure expenses presented for payment are coded properly, entered timely, and have the required documentation according to finance policies and procedures
Ensure fiscal compliance with all grantors from grant implementation through close-out
Review and reconcile financial reports, seek clarification and documentation of expenses, and recommend corrections as necessary; review, reconcile, correct, and compile financial data for the preparation and submission of internal reports, compliance reports, grant financial reports, and grant reimbursements
Maintain relationships with grant managers and program officers of funding bodies
Review and verify budget numbers and enter the approved budget in the accounting software
Ensure accounts receivable entries and cash receipt entries are prepared timely, have the required documentation, and are coded properly
Maintain confidentiality of records and communications following CAPWN policy and HIPAA privacy and security policies and procedures
Prepare monthly bank reconciliations
Conduct comprehensive training programs for program staff
Coordinate and process incoming and outgoing mail in collaboration with the billing team to ensure timely and accurate handling of all correspondence
Facilitate and lead monthly meetings with the department director and staff
Work with finance staff to meet semi-monthly, monthly, quarterly, and annual deadlines
Cross train to provide back up for other finance staff
Maintain both an electronic and a hard-copy file of agency leases and contracts

Qualification
Required
AA Degree in Accounting or one year of accounting work experience
Required to have experience with Microsoft Excel and ability to learn our accounting software
Requires proficient level of written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work with culturally diverse groups of people
Attention to detail is imperative
Must be bondable
Must have a valid driver's license with good driving record and insured vehicle
Must be 21 years old or above
Three years of accounting work experience
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field or five years of accounting work experience
Master's degree in Accounting or related field or seven years of accounting work experience
