Responsibilities
Install, configure, manage, and maintain MySQL databases across versions 5.5, 5.6, 5.7, 8, and 8.4
Ensure high availability, performance, reliability, and security of MySQL database environments
Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and proactively tune queries and system parameters
Design, implement, and manage robust backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and business continuity
Perform regular database maintenance activities, including patching, upgrades, and version migrations
Lead and support database migration projects, including on-premises to cloud and major version upgrades
Implement database security controls in alignment with compliance standards and best practices
Collaborate with software development teams to optimize SQL queries and improve database schema and design
Develop and maintain automation scripts using shell scripting to streamline operational tasks
Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues in production and non-production environments
Define and enforce database best practices, standards, and operational procedures
Communicate effectively with both technical teams and management stakeholders
Qualification
Required
5–8 years of hands-on experience in MySQL Database Administration
Strong expertise in MySQL versions 5.5, 5.6, 5.7, 8, and 8.4
Proven experience in performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing strategies
Solid knowledge of backup, recovery, replication, and high-availability architectures
Experience working in Unix/Linux environments with a strong understanding of OS-level tuning for MySQL
Proficiency in shell scripting for automation and operational efficiency
Experience implementing database security, access controls, and compliance measures
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in complex environments
Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across technical and business teams
