Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
Programming.com is seeking a highly experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design and development of next-generation chassis and card-level mechanical solutions for compute and networking products. This role involves hands-on mechanical design, tolerance analysis, cross-functional collaboration, and technical mentorship within a fast-paced product development environment.

Responsibilities
Design and deliver next-generation chassis and card-level mechanical solutions aligned with overall system and product requirements
Perform 2D tolerance analysis for complex electro-mechanical assemblies using spreadsheets and/or 3D tolerance analysis tools (e.g., CETol)
Develop innovative mechanical designs using sheet metal, plastic, and die-cast materials, ensuring compliance with EMI, safety, and regulatory standards
Create and maintain 3D CAD models using Creo or NX
Produce detailed manufacturing drawings applying GD&T principles
Lead issue resolution by working closely with manufacturing teams and suppliers, developing mitigation plans, and communicating progress to management
Collaborate cross-functionally with hardware, signal integrity, CAD, thermal, and manufacturing teams to negotiate requirements and assess design trade-offs
Partner with thermal engineers to design and implement effective cooling solutions
Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior mechanical engineers
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
8–12 years of EMS / mechanical design experience, with at least 8 years supporting compute or networking products
Strong proficiency in 3D MCAD tools such as Creo or NX
Experience with static and dynamic analysis tools (Creo Simulate, ANSYS, or equivalent)
Strong expertise in tolerance analysis, GD&T, and statistical analysis
Proven experience designing sheet metal parts for high-volume production
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills
Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
Preferred
Experience designing computer or networking equipment for data center environments
Knowledge of manufacturing tooling for sheet metal, plastic, and die-casting
Hands-on experience designing plastic and die-cast components
Strong mechanical aptitude and mechanism design experience
Familiarity with ECO, BOM, and deviation processes
Experience working in Agile development environments
Exposure to PDMLink (Teamcenter) and Model-Based Definition (MBD) is a plus
