Responsibilities
Contribute to the development of policies and procedures in engineering
Oversee the production of drill pattern designs
Oversee pit phase designs, short-term planning, and production surveying
Confirm that pit designs are thoroughly and accurately executed in practical applications
Contribute to the preparation of the annual budget and long-term strategies
Verify production targets through equipment studies
Supervise survey, drilling, and blasting to align with planning priorities
Evaluate short-term mine plans to ensure they are consistent with operational objectives
Function as 2IC for Senior Geologist when they are off-site
Research data to support decision-making and improve procedures, technologies, or methodologies
Train and coach direct reports for maximum efficiency
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering required
Professional Engineer or equivalent certification is required
Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in open pit mining engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
Experienced in leading large open-pit mining projects and teams
Commitment to safety, quality, and environmental sustainability
Preferred
advanced degree preferred
