Controller / Operations Manager (28899)
Dahl Consulting is a privately held investment and management group overseeing a portfolio of small to mid-sized operating companies. The Controller / Operations Manager will provide strategic financial leadership and oversee day-to-day business operations, focusing on accounting and operational leadership.
Responsibilities
Overseeing all accounting functions, including month-end and year-end close, general ledger management, reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll
Preparing, reviewing, and presenting financial statements, management reports, budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial models
Monitoring cash flow, working capital, and liquidity while ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely financial reporting
Ensuring compliance with GAAP, maintaining internal controls, and coordinating with external auditors and tax advisors
Analyzing financial and operational data to identify risks, trends, and opportunities and making recommendations to leadership
Managing day-to-day business operations across multiple small to mid-sized companies to improve efficiency, scalability, and cost control
Leading and developing staff while supporting cross-functional teams, including sales, HR, IT, and external partners
Driving project management initiatives, business reorganizations, and process improvements to address operational challenges and 'put out fires' as they arise
Supporting vendor management, contract administration, procurement, and operational KPI development
Assisting executive leadership with strategic planning, business analysis, and operational reporting
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
5+ years of progressive experience in accounting, finance, or operations, including Controller-level or senior accounting responsibilities
Strong working knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
Experience managing people and leading teams in small to mid-sized business environments
Hands-on experience with accounting systems and financial reporting tools such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage, or similar platforms
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, solve complex problems, and balance strategic planning with hands-on execution
Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and cross-functional collaboration skills
Preferred
Experience supporting multiple business entities or portfolio companies within an investment or holding company structure
Background in operations leadership, project management, or business transformation initiatives
Prior experience in manufacturing, consumer services, food production, or similar operationally driven industries
Experience serving in a Chief of Staff, Director of Operations, or hybrid finance/operations leadership role
