General Attorney (Transactional/Contracts)
BNSF Railway is one of the largest U.S. railroads transporting freight across the nation. They are seeking a General Attorney to provide expert in-house counsel, support internal clients on transactions, and manage disputes related to various agreements.

Responsibilities
Support internal clients on transactions with BNSF’s suppliers and other counterparties. This includes reviewing, drafting and negotiating a variety of agreements touching all aspects of BNSF’s operations, including high-value agreements with BNSF’s critical partners regarding operational, commercial, real estate, and construction issues
Counsel various BNSF departments on issues related to those agreements, including helping to manage disputes that occasionally arise and are resolved through litigation or arbitration
Assist with BNSF’s contract management system, working as part of a team of lawyers and paralegals managing that function for BNSF
Qualification
Required
Able to work now and in the future without BNSF's assistance (whether monetary, through sponsorship, or otherwise) in obtaining, maintaining, or extending employment authorization (including H-1B, STEM OPT/CPT, or TN nonimmigrant status)
J.D. Degree
Current law license (Texas preferred, but not mandatory)
2+ years of legal practice
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other web-based legal research tools
Preferred
2+ years of relevant work experience as a practicing lawyer (in-house, law firm or government) handling complex contract negotiations and transactions and/or dispute resolution (litigation/arbitration)
Ability to handle complex and challenging assignments with extremely short turnaround deadlines
Strong negotiation skills and ability to build consensus and communicate compelling legal/business justification for position
Excellent legal research, verbal and written communication skills and ability to handle complex and challenging assignments with extremely short turnaround deadlines
Experience in the transportation or manufacturing industry
Experience with Intellectual Property issues
