Responsibilities

Lead mechanical design and serve as project manager for building systems projects, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems
Develop and review construction documents, technical specifications, and cost estimates
Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements (e.g., ASHRAE, local building codes)
Manage project scope, schedule, and budgets for assigned projects
Serve as the primary point of contact for select projects, building and maintaining strong client relationships
Coordinate and manage multi-disciplinary design teams, including internal civil, structural, and electrical staff
Oversee construction administration activities, including submittal review, responses to RFIs, and site visits
Lead and participate in internal and external project meetings, maintaining clear communication with clients, consultants, and contractors
Support proposal development, level-of-effort estimating, and project planning
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical development within the mechanical team

Required

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field
10+ years of experience in mechanical engineering design for building systems (HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection)
Professional Engineer (PE) license required
Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit for MEP design
Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, plumbing systems, fire protection, and applicable building codes and ASHRAE standards
Experience managing projects through design and construction phases
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with clients and project teams
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Ability to travel 1–2 days per week on average to job sites in MA, CT, and RI

Preferred

Familiarity with BIM coordination tools preferred
