In this role, you will lead the engineering efforts to integrate and scale advertising experiences on Waze using the Google Ads tech stack while mentoring a team of engineers and managing project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.

Responsibilities

Lead and mentor engineers while fostering technical excellence and innovation. Set technical goals and roadmaps for Waze Ads, aligning with Maps business goals

Oversee the design of scalable, high-quality systems and advocate best practices like reliability and testing. Be accountable for end-to-end delivery, including design, coding, deployment, and experiments

Partner with Product and UX to prioritize initiatives and translate requirements into technical plans. Manage project scope, resources, risks, and dependencies for efficient execution

Coordinate with Geo, Waze, and other teams to deliver integrated solutions. Communicate technical trade-offs to stakeholders and influence alignment across engaged priorities

Propose new opportunities in location-based advertising and explore emerging technologies. Use data-driven analysis and experiments to optimize products for user experience and business

Required

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience

8 years of experience programming in JavaScript or TypeScript

8 years of experience programming in Java or C++

5 years of experience testing, and launching software products, and 3 years of experience with software design and architecture

Preferred

Experience working in full stack development and ML systems

Experience optimizing system performance (latency, throughput, efficiency) and ensuring reliability

Experience leading technically challenging, cross-functional infrastructure projects from inception to production deployment and operation

Knowledge of designing, productionizing and debugging complex, large-scale distributed systems

Knowledge of Ads infrastructure, distributed systems, and large-scale back-end services

Excellent problem-solving, investigative, and communication skills
