Utility Billing and Software Support Specialist
Missouri River Energy Services is a joint action agency supporting member municipalities with electric distribution systems. The Utility Billing and Software Support Specialist will provide hands-on support and training to ensure utility staff can efficiently perform daily billing operations and enhance member confidence in software utilization.

Responsibilities
The position provides hands‑on support, training, and guidance to ensure utility staff can perform daily billing operations smoothly and efficiently
Through strong partnerships, process understanding, and deep software expertise, this role enhances member confidence, improves workflow performance, and strengthens the overall service experience
Deliver business‑to‑business customer support via phone, email, or in person, with a focus on resolving utility billing software questions and issues
Provide professional services and member education, including consulting, on utility billing processes, system readiness, workflow optimization, and software functionality
Partners with the members to understand utility billing workflows, regulatory requirements, and operational needs, ensuring the Customer Information Systems (CIS)/utility billing software is configured and utilized to their satisfaction
Coordinate with software vendors to schedule member meeting, product demonstrations, training sessions and other activities that strengthen the partnership between MRES, members, and the software providers
Participate in and complete all vendor related training required to support, configure, and operate utility billing/CIS products
Maintain effective communication with CIS, utility billing, and related industry vendors to stay current on product updates, enhancements, and best practices
Responds to user inquiries from users across a wide range of utility billing software topics, including meter management, customer accounts, billing cycles, payment processing, reporting, and integration issues
Collaborate closely with other support members to identify recurring software issues, share solutions, and improve support processes
Attends training on new equipment, platforms, software tools relevant to utility billing, CIS systems, and member support services
Occasional travel to member locations and to conferences with occasional overnight stays. Represent MRES at industry committees, software development groups, project teams, and conferences, contributing expertise in CIS/utility billing software as assigned
Qualification
Required
Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school in energy, business systems, information technology, or related field and five years related experience in utility billing, CIS support, or related software environments; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in database software, spreadsheet, and word processing software
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license
Preferred
Familiarity with Tyler Technologies programs, especially InCode version 9 and 10
