They are offering a hands-on internship opportunity for a System Protection Field Engineer, where interns will work closely with experienced technicians to install, commission, and maintain protective relay and communications systems in substations.

Responsibilities
Assist with the installation and commissioning of protective relay systems
Participate in maintenance and troubleshooting of substation communication systems
Engage in field inspections and hands-on technical work alongside experienced engineers
Learn how protective systems safeguard grid reliability and respond to faults
Collaborate with professionals across engineering and operations teams
Gain exposure to real-world challenges in system protection and field operations
Qualification
Required
Basic knowledge of engineering concepts, fundamentals, and theory
Oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing)
Effective decision-making skills
Computer skills and application of software programs
Analytical and abstract thinking skills
Problem solving skills
Ability to learn to apply engineering theories and concepts to complex problems
Ability to interpret codes, regulations and practices
Ability to develop effective planning, project and organization skills
Ability to develop project management skills and to handle multiple tasks
Ability to work within a team environment
Candidate must be a full-time student
With a graduation date of Winter 2026 or later
Must have a 2.5 cumulative GPA or higher
Preferred
majoring in ABET accredited Electrical Engineering/Engineering Technology
majoring in ABET accredited Preparation Engineering Program with intentions to transfer to an ABET 4 year program
