Responsibilities

The incumbent in this position performs professional work handling complex regulatory activities of the Drugs, Devices, & Cosmetics Division
Reviews, evaluates, and processes Chapter 499, Florida Statutes, applications and recommends approval or denial of applications from persons applying for initial licensure and renewal of a permit for a permitted establishment under the Florida Drug and Cosmetic Act. This involves reviewing and analyzing the application, laws, rules, correspondence, reports, and other relevant documents to arrive at a recommendation for permitting
Reviews fingerprint cards, criminal background history, and eligibility to sit for certification exams
Requesting field inspections
Completing license verifications, assigning permit fees, and identifying overpayments for refund
Communicates daily with the public, department officials, other state agencies, and the private sector, both verbally and in writing, regarding permitting requirements and authorized activity under the Florida Drug and Cosmetic Act
Maintains a tracking system of the activity for all applications pending a decision
Accurately enters all required data into the licensing and imaging system
Perform other duties as assigned and back up comparable positions in the Drugs, Devices, & Cosmetic Program

Required

Two (2) years of customer service experience
Working knowledge of MS Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, and Outlook)
Knowledge of Florida Statutes and Board and Department rules governing licensure of professionals in Florida
Knowledge of the method of data collection
Ability to understand and apply applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
Ability to work independently
Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments
Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Possess good computer skills
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others

Preferred

Experience in processing business license/permit applications
