Distribution Engineering Technician II
EchoStar is reimagining the future of connectivity, and they are seeking a Distribution Engineering Technician II to ensure the operation and maintenance of manufacturing equipment. The role involves troubleshooting issues, performing planned maintenance, and assisting in engineering projects to improve equipment performance and safety standards.

Responsibilities
Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and software issues with manufacturing equipment, ensuring operation according to specifications and maximizing uptime; some equipment includes: manual/automated test stations, box formers, stretch wrappers, industrial robots, scanners, and powered industrial trucks (PITs)
Perform planned maintenance on manufacturing equipment, following work instructions and providing recommendations on how to improve equipment performance
Read and interpret schematic drawings, diagrams, blueprints, specifications, and datasheets
Assemble and deploy test stations, providing support after assembly to ensure proper operation
Collect data to prepare time studies, reports, work instructions, visual aids, and flowcharts
Identify and correct safety issues with manufacturing equipment and warehouse racking
Assist with special engineering projects, such as new product/process introduction (NPI), layout changes, and equipment upgrades
Assist other departments (IT, Maintenance, Facilities, Production) as requested or as instructed by engineering management
Manage multiple projects and responsibilities simultaneously, delivering results and meeting deadlines according to business priorities
Interact with a proactive attitude and customer mindset when working with production associates, supervisors, engineers, and coworkers from other departments

Qualification
Required
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
At least 12 months related experience and/or training in a manufacturing environment (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Physical ability to lift and move production equipment (at least 45 lbs), including (but not limited to): workbenches, racks, carts, cabling, and computers
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos, and instructional emails
Ability to perform daily duties according to standard operating procedures (SOPs), sequences of events (SOEs), and other related documentation
Proficiency using a Windows PC
Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides)
Familiarity with computer communication methods (USB, serial, Ethernet/IP, WiFi, Bluetooth)
Working knowledge and experience with the use of power tools (impact driver, drill press, pedestal grinder, hammer drill, table/chop saw)
Fundamental understanding of mechanical systems (geartrains, pulleys, linear actuators, cam-followers, pneumatics)
Fundamental understanding of fixation methods (bolting, riveting, friction fit, welding, adhesion)
Fundamental understanding of electrical power and safety (voltage, current, resistance)
Ability to perform root cause analysis on complex issues, where the answer may not be immediately apparent
Ability to communicate and collaborate in a professional manner with entry-level associates and senior managers alike
Ability to work on complex tasks with little to no supervision, coordinating efforts with a crew or team
Ability to manage time effectively, prioritizing between multiple tasks and projects
Preferred
Associates Degree (or equivalent training/certification) in electronics, machining, mechatronics, automotive, or similar technical field preferred
Familiarity with 5S, Total Productive Maintenance, Gemba, and other Lean Manufacturing principles preferred
Experience working with a comprehensive maintenance management system (CMMS), such as SAP-Maintenance, MPulse, or equivalent preferred
Working knowledge of AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent design software preferred
Working knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and warehouse automation systems preferred
