Senior Auditor, Internal Audit Services
The Government of Nunavut is seeking a Senior Auditor for its Internal Audit Services. This role involves providing independent audit and advisory services to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of government operations, including developing audit programs, documenting findings, and ensuring compliance with audit objectives.

Responsibilities
Develops an understanding of activities and controls to be audited by reviewing legislation, policies and procedures as well as management directives and guidelines
Documents systems and evaluates internal controls
Performs risk analyses and determines areas of audit emphasis
Determining resource requirements and developing time budgets for audit segments
Prepares, in consultation with the Manager, detailed audit programs that fulfill the audit objectives, and that serve as a guide to the performance of the audit
Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information obtained during the audit
Prepares working paper documentation of audit procedures followed, audit findings, and conclusions to audit programs in accordance with professional standards for working paper preparation
Prepares the draft audit report, which includes findings, implications and recommendations, for review and approval by the Manager
Identifies and coordinating the resources required to complete the project, including staff and contracted auditors
Monitors the performance of audits conducted by other Senior Auditors, Auditors, and Junior Auditors as well as by contractors to evaluate audit findings, verify conclusions and recommendations, and the content of audit reports to ensure compliance with audit objectives
Establishes processes for following up on audit reports to ensure that management has taken the corrective action agreed to in their Action Plans in the audit report
Reviews and approves the final audit report to be submitted through the Manager and the Chief Internal Auditor, Internal Audit Services
Qualification
Required
An undergraduate Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting or related field from a recognized institution
Three (3) years of Canadian auditing experience at progressively senior levels with the responsibility for supervising the work of others is required
The Senior Auditor is required to possess one of the following designations: a current Canadian Professional Accounting (CPA) designation, Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) designation, Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) designation or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) designation
A satisfactory Criminal Record Check is required
Preferred
Extensive experience in performing audits of computerized systems in a Canadian setting
Fluency in more than one of Nunavut's official languages would be considered an asset
Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets
