Rutgers University is seeking a Director – Human Resources for the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences. The Director of Human Resources provides administrative leadership and support for the management of all matters related to faculty and staff for the School and the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station, focusing on strategic oversight and compliance with university policies.

Responsibilities

Provides strategic oversight and direction for the Office of Human Resources while serving as a key partner to executive leadership in advancing organizational priorities, goals and initiatives
Oversees, analyzes and reports on human resources activities to provide timely and accessible information to the school and experiment station leadership
Acts as a key contributor to goal setting, strategic planning and process/problem resolution for the School and Station

Required

Masters degree, preferably in higher education or public administration and a minimum of five years of experience in a leadership or managerial role that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of strategic management, leadership skills, team building and best practices research
Excellent communication and diplomacy skills
Ability to write and edit public documents
Ability to work in a fast paced, confidential office and be able to independently exercise sound judgment
Thorough knowledge of relevant personnel policies and procedures in a public, higher education environment

Preferred

Understanding of labor agreements and experience working in a collective bargaining environment
