CAM Engineer
Summit Interconnect is seeking a CAM Engineer to review and analyze customer data, ensuring alignment with manufacturing guidelines. The role involves creating manufacturing data and optimizing processes for PCB production while collaborating with design teams to meet specifications.
Responsibilities
Review and analyze customer data: Ensure that the design data aligns with manufacturing guidelines and design rules
Create manufacturing data: Develop and create manufacturing data, programs, and tools required for PCB manufacturing
Utilize CAM software: Translate design data into manufacturing instructions and toolpath strategies
Optimize manufacturing processes: Address discrepancies and issues in the manufacturing process to ensure efficiency and precision
Collaborate with design teams: Work with design engineers to understand product specifications and design intent
Perform design rule checks: Conduct design rule checks and edit data to comply with manufacturing standards
Generate Gerber files: Ensure the accurate generation of Gerber files and other manufacturing files for PCB production
Optimize panel layouts: Create panel layouts for batch fabrication and assembly to maximize space utilization
Conduct quality checks: Perform thorough quality checks on manufacturing data to maintain high standards
Qualification
Required
Must have a minimum of three (3) years' experience in PCB or thermal PCB manufacturing and be proficient in CAM, Genesis or similar CAM tools
Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
Accurately tool a job using Genesis software
Provide all NC data required for manufacturing
Generate data required by ET department
Review prints and purchase orders
Scale and output Drill programs and/or Rout programs upon request
Send scaled Artwork to plot upon request
Output LDI data
Generate tools for the shop floor per Summit standards and capabilities
Panelize the one up edited data into production panel and add coupons
Must be able to research and develop new CAM processes
Must be proficient in rigid, flex, rigid/flex, and sequential lam designs
Must have a strong understanding of PCB stack-ups, thermal materials, cia structures, heavy copper routing, and PCB layouts
Must be able to perform the job with little supervision
Must be able to cooperate and communicate effectively with customers, management, and supervisory staff
Ability to effectively follow company systems and procedures
High School Diploma or equivalent
Must have a minimum of three (3) years' experience in the printed circuit board industry with two (2) years' as a CAM Engineer using Genesis software or similar CAM tools
Must be a US Citizen
Must be able to sit and or stand for long periods
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, information systems, information technology or in a related discipline or equivalent experience/combined education
CAM certification
Ability to identify manufacturing constraints and propose design improvements
Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills
Five (5) years' experience in the printed circuit board industry with two (3) years' as a CAM Engineer using Genesis software or similar CAM tools
