Program & Event Manager

The Northeast Sustainable Energy Association (NESEA) advances sustainability practices in the built environment by cultivating a cross-disciplinary community. They are hiring a Program & Event Manager to support NESEA's goals through program and event planning, working alongside existing staff to coordinate various events and initiatives.

Responsibilities

Working with existing staff for event coordination for small scale events (15-50 people), including: scheduling, communications, venues, catering, record/receipt keeping, sponsor recruitment, meeting space set-up and breakdown, and other logistical tasks to support the success of events
Outreach, recruitment, and records maintenance around our scholarship program and business development program
Tracking components of our magazine program
Working with other staff to maintain database records
Tracking expenses related to program activities
Communication with event sponsors

Required

Program and/or event planning and staffing, especially multiple small events throughout the year
Database and Excel/Google Sheets fluency
Customer service (may include roles such as food service and/or retail)
Experience and comfort working in a variety of digital environments, including Google products
Project management (tracking many details of a project or event)
General administrative tasks in a nonprofit, academic, or similar office setting
Availability and willingness to travel regionally in the Northeast (most travel will be within New England and New York), including some overnight travel
Valid driver's license and reliable personal transportation for events required; comfortable driving and navigating in rural and urban environments; willing to take a driving course
Ability to lift up and carry to 30 pounds and be on your feet for several hours (with breaks) on event days
Ability to follow established procedures and to be comfortable if something needs to change in the moment
Friendly, supportive and professional attitude toward event attendees and program participants
Willingness to roll up sleeves and complete tasks as needed
Ability to communicate with and develop working relationships with our collaborators and program participants
Willingness to proactively ask questions; interest in NESEA's mission and vision
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and ability to prioritize multiple tasks
Comfort working in a variety of digital environments and ability to adapt to new software (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite, Google Drive, relational databases, Dropbox, etc.), including Excel or Google sheets fluency
Ability to perform the specific duties listed in this posting

Preferred

Writing and/or editing
Grant research, application, or reporting
Sales or sponsor recruitment
At least 1 to 2 years of event planning or other relevant experience, especially with events with tight deadlines and budgets
Program recruitment experience
Grant research, writing, or management experience
Writing and/or copyediting
Building collaborations between organizations
Nonprofit experience
