Responsibilities
Help our teams move from PRdriven delivery to automationgated, trunkbased Continuous Delivery
You’ll implement and operate the pipelines, deployment slots, and guardrails that keep main always deployable and releases safe
You’ll coach engineers via pairing and test/design reviews
Green mainline: implement mergequeue/autorebase; serialize integrates; stoptheline discipline
CD pipeline: GitHub Actions → build/test/package → deploy to staging slot → smoke/canary → swap to prod; rollback = swap back
Quality gates in code: precommit/prepush checks; fast unit/contract tests; static analysis; flake budget; practical coverage
DB safety: apply expand → migrate/backfill → contract; run repeatable migrations; zero/lowdowntime rollouts
Secrets/auth: OIDC to Azure; config via Key Vault; least privilege; no longlived secrets
Feature flags: dark-launch, canary, killswitch; no longlived forks
Observability: /healthz, errorrate/latency SLO gates; synthetic probes; automated rollback triggers
Enablement: pair with engineers; run testreading/design/RFC reviews; write crisp runbooks
Build and maintain reusable Actions templates (azure/login, webapps-deploy, slots, canary, swap)
Stand up GrumPHP/CaptainHook, PHPStan/Psalm/PHPCS, PHPUnit/ParaTest; cut gating time to singledigit minutes
Create migration runbooks; supervise live backfills/cutovers with metrics
Wire health checks, alerts, and deploy guards; tune caches/parallelism in CI
Partner with Security/Compliance to move approvals to Environment promotions with clean audit trails
Qualification
Required
4–7+ years total; 2–3+ years on DevOps/CD for web apps or SaaS
Delivered trunkbased CD beyond 'just CI.'
Git expertise (branch protections, rulesets, automationonly mainline, merge queues)
GitHub Actions (or equivalent), artifacts, caching, parallelization, secrets hygiene
Azure App Service (Linux) with deployment slots, traffic routing, swap
LAMP: PHP/composer, Apache, MySQL; Linux fundamentals
Test strategy: unit/contract/integration; deflaking; practical coverage
DB migrations at scale; zero/lowdowntime patterns
Observability: health checks, metrics, tracing, alerting; SLOs as release gates
