Paint Process Engineer

Leaders Staffing is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Paint Process Engineer to support and improve paint operations for a client in Huntington County. The ideal candidate will be responsible for specifying, designing, and implementing robot path programming and paint application improvements while supporting uptime, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

Improve paint department design and process control for performance, quality, and reliability
Specify, program, and optimize robot path programming (manipulator, applicator, and fluid delivery systems)
Support equipment, control panel, and networking upgrades
Integrate conveyor control systems with paint robots
Implement data acquisition improvements for production reporting
Develop and modify safety devices and zoned safety logic
Improve Allen‑Bradley PLC logic to increase uptime and throughput
Coordinate trial runs and lead quality improvement efforts within the paint process
Specify and procure equipment; act as liaison with builders, customers, and production
Drive cost‑reduction and continuous improvement initiatives for new and existing processes
Provide technical support to Production and Engineering teams

Required

Bachelor's degree in Engineering (or equivalent experience)
5+ years of experience in controls, manufacturing, or paint process engineering
Strong knowledge of paint application processes and paint department operations
Hands-on experience with Fanuc P-250 paint robots (•required•)
Strong experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs, networking, and industrial controls
Knowledge of robotics, conveyor integration, safety systems, and data acquisition
Familiarity with ISO 14001 and TS/IATF 16949 requirements
Working knowledge of lean manufacturing and statistical analysis
Comfortable managing multiple projects and priorities
Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Basic understanding of machining, tooling, electrical systems, and schematics

Preferred

Associate (Preferred)
controls, automation, or paint process engineering: 5 years (Preferred)
ISO 14001 and TS/IATF 16949: 3 years (Preferred)
paint application processes: 3 years (Preferred)
Lean manufacturing and problem-solving mindset: 5 years (Preferred)
Fanuc P-250 paint robots (required): 3 years (Preferred)
Allen-Bradley PLC logic, networking, and controls: 1 year (Preferred)
