Linux Systems Engineer
SAIC is a premier technology integrator providing full life cycle services and solutions in the technical, engineering, intelligence, and enterprise information technology markets. They are seeking a Linux Systems Engineer to support a variety of networks and systems in a mission-critical enterprise environment, demonstrating strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities while collaborating with various personnel on project-based assignments.

Responsibilities
Supporting a variety of networks and systems in a mission-critical enterprise environment
Excel independently and in small-team environments, demonstrating strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities with minimal supervision
Proactively seek out opportunities to learn new skills and willingly share knowledge with junior team members
Initiative in finding and prioritizing tasks, including security audits and patch management, is essential
Excellent communication skills are crucial, particularly in defusing situations and interacting with individuals unfamiliar with technology
The role involves collaboration with various government, subcontractor, and SAIC personnel on project-based assignments
Qualification
Required
Bachelors and 9 years or more experience. Masters and 7 years or more experience. Or 13 years of experience in lieu of degree
Security+ or CISSP certification on day one
KEY - Advance knowledge of RedHat Linux and RedHat OpenShift
KEY - Expertise in managing Linux servers and infrastructure
Expertise virtualization technologies and infrastructure
Proficiency in shell scripting and automation using tools like Bash, Python, or Perl
Experience with configuration management tools such as n8n, Puppet, or Chef
Advance knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP) and troubleshooting network issues. Must be fully conversant in the OSI model
Experience with utilizing Digital Certificates for authentication
Understanding of security best practices and experience implementing security measures
Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker
Ability to diagnose and resolve system performance issues
Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Splunk and Solarwinds
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively
Continuous learning and keeping up-to-date with the latest Linux technologies and trends
U.S. Citizenship with an active TS/SCI with the ability to obtain a CI Poly
Preferred
Knowledge of UNIX and Linux
Experience with Cisco infrastructure equipment
Experience working with serial console terminal servers
Knowledge of classified communication systems
Knowledge of Mac OSX is desired, but not required
Knowledge of VPN technology and implementation
Working knowledge of popular, legacy, and new social media, blog sites, and mobile applications
Working knowledge of deep web and dark web
