Teacher of the Visually Impaired
The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) is seeking applicants for a Teacher of the Visually Impaired for their Office of Exceptional Children. The role involves providing itinerant, early intervention to children eligible for special education services for vision loss, primarily serving infants and toddlers ages birth to three in various settings including homes and schools.

Responsibilities
Provide itinerant, early intervention to children eligible to receive special education and related services for vision loss under Parts C of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)
Serve children ages birth to three years of age
Conduct business using web-based platforms and ensure access to reliable internet
Additional duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Documented experience in public education teaching children birth to 2 and/or 3-21
Documented experience with federal and/or state special education policies, practices, and/or procedures (e.g. IDEA Parts B and/or C)
Demonstrated experience utilizing and/or managing web-based applications and/or databases (e.g. Microsoft Office software, Google, Apple software)
Possession of a Birth to Kindergarten Certification issued by the NC Dept. of Public Instruction and an Infant Toddler Credential issued through the NC Dept. of Public Health
Certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist
Minimally qualified applicants must have an active NC teaching license
