Responsibilities
Develop, enhance, and support Java/J2EE and web‑based applications end‑to‑end, including requirements validation, system design, implementation, testing, and deployment
Support Envision Opera Interface, Guest Customer Service applications, and related reporting components
Collaborate with offsite contract developers to build new reports and maintain existing reports and data cubes
Perform production support activities, including on‑call coverage and system maintenance
Write and optimize complex SQL queries; work directly with application servers; automate build/deployment pipelines; tune application performance
Partner with Project Managers and business stakeholders to deliver high‑quality technical solutions
Define technical deliverables, contribute to project plans, and track milestones
Provide technical leadership across architecture, design, development, QA/QC, and deployment
Mentor junior developers and contribute to team capability building
Ensure solutions adhere to engineering standards, development processes, and security guidelines
Produce high‑quality technical documentation and review deliverables from team members
Work closely with IT partners and external service providers to optimize application performance and improve user experience
Demonstrate alignment with Hyatt’s core values in all interactions
Qualification
Required
7+ years of progressively responsible application development experience
Strong experience developing front‑end and back‑end components for large‑scale enterprise Java applications
Expertise in Java, J2EE, Spring Framework, SOAP/REST services, and related enterprise design patterns
Advanced SQL skills; experience with DB2 preferred; familiarity with Oracle a plus
Hands‑on development experience with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, JQuery, Node.js, and modern web technologies
Experience with application servers such as JBoss and Tomcat
Proficiency with XML/JSON, JMS, Dojo, AJAX, Eclipse, Hibernate, Struts, JUnit
Experience with Subversion or Git for version control
Proven ability to design reusable components shared across multiple applications
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot application issues using logs and root‑cause analysis
Experience collaborating with cross‑functional teams in ambiguous or fast‑moving environments
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non‑technical audiences
Self‑directed learner with strong work ethic and demonstrated integrity
Preferred
Consulting background or experience in client‑facing engineering roles
Experience with Informatica ETL or MDM solutions
Java Certification or AWS Developer Certification
