Responsibilities
Research, design, develop, and/or test operating systems-level software, compilers, and/or network distribution software for semiconductor operations, applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis
Plan, design, develop and/or test software systems for software enhancements and new products
Set operational specifications and formulate and/or analyze software requirements
Develop, modify, and enhance functional and stress tests to identify silicon bugs on emulator
Instrument firmware code to support failure debug
Triage failures with design, verification, firmware, software and emulation teams
Drive projects or processes of significant technical importance
Exercise wide latitude in determining objectives and approaches to critical assignments
Participate in code reviews, creating unit tests, authoring detailed documentation related to your work, and working with on-site and offshore teams to deliver the software solutions on schedule
Utilize expertise with computers and electronics, including computer hardware and software, applications, and programming, as well as knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology
Apply knowledge of engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of various AMD products
Qualification
Required
Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
Three (3) years of experience in the job offered or closely related engineering role
Alternate combination of education and experience: Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field and five (5) years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or closely related engineering role
Two (2) years of experience in emulation platforms such as Veloce, Zebu, or Palladium (compilation, debug, performance, and throughput tuning)
Two (2) years of experience in debugging in hardware and software co-debug environments
Two (2) years of experience in root cause using WaveForms
Two (2) years of experience in Verilog or VHDL design
Two (2) years of experience in SystemVerilog or UVM verification environments
Two (2) years of experience in hardware architecture (Graphic card, CPU and APU, memory, bus logic, and display technologies)
Two (2) years of experience in computer software architecture and boot flow (BootRom, firmware, bios, device drivers, or OS)
Two (2) years of experience in Linux or Unix environment
Two (2) years of experience in C, C++, Python, TCL, or Ruby
Two (2) years of experience in Assembly (ARM and x86)
