The Ohio Department of Commerce is dedicated to ensuring the safety of Ohioans' finances by regulating financial institutions. The Financial Institution Examiner Trainee will participate in training and on-site examinations, review financial records, and assist in preparing detailed examination reports.

Responsibilities
Participates in training sessions and activities to develop a comprehensive understanding of the regulatory framework governing money transmitters
Participates in on-site examinations to review money transmitter records, financial condition, and operations
Performs assigned review areas and reports unsound practices and/or non-compliance to team leader
Meets with company representatives to obtain clarification on financial data and operational policies
Aids in preparing detailed examination reports that summarize findings, highlight compliance issues, and provides recommendations for corrective action
Qualification
Required
Undergraduate degree in business related field (BA, BS, BSBA, BBA) in accounting, finance, economics, marketing, business administration, or closely related field
24 months experience in accounting or finance or comparable coursework for all positions except those involved in information technology examinations
Valid driver's license
Requires overnight travel (i.e., both in-state & out-of-state). On average this job requires one week of out-of-state travel per month
