Responsibilities
Own the Relationships: Serve as the primary point of contact for all domestic and international vendors (specifically our 5–7 core partners in China and Mexico)
Performance Accountability: Evaluate vendor performance regularly using data-driven scorecards (pricing, lead times, quality, responsiveness, reliability)
Negotiate: Negotiate pricing, volume discounts, payment terms, and long-term agreements that reduce overall company cost and protect margins
Risk Mitigation: Identify alternative suppliers to mitigate supply chain risks and create competitive pricing pressure
Execution: Manage all purchasing for product lines, components, materials, hardware, and project-specific items. Issue POs, confirm order accuracy, track ETAs, and ensure timely fulfillment
Import Management: Oversee inbound freight from overseas suppliers, including container optimization, CBM allocation, and scheduling
Compliance: Ensure compliance with country-of-origin rules (critical for GSA/Government contract workflows)
Project Synchronization: Work closely with Project Managers to confirm material readiness for every client job, ensuring no shortages
Monitor inventory levels and establish optimal reorder points (MIN/MAX) to avoid overstock on slow movers and stockouts on high-velocity SKUs
Develop and document Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for purchasing, receiving, vendor management, and inbound freight handling
Identify bottlenecks in the supply chain and implement workflows that streamline communication across departments
Analyze the $1.5M+ annual freight spend to identify trends, inefficiencies, and immediate savings opportunities
Standardize pricing models with vendors to ensure consistency
Work with Finance to track cost trends, landed costs, and actual vs. projected margins
Support leadership on major sourcing initiatives such as reshoring, near shoring (Mexico), and custom OEM development
Collaborate to ensure materials arrive on time for installations
Assist in sourcing new components or evaluating alternative product options
Coordinate receiving schedules, inspections, and inventory updates
Manage vendor payment schedules, terms, and ensure invoice accuracy
Qualification
Required
5+ years of experience in supply chain, purchasing, or procurement (preferably in furniture, manufacturing, logistics, or related fields)
Strong negotiating skills with a track record of managing multi-million-dollar vendor relationships
Deep understanding of international logistics, freight terms (Incoterms), CBM/container planning, and import processes
Advanced Excel skills are required. You must be able to build models, use pivot tables, and analyze large datasets to satisfy high-level reporting requirements
Ability to manage vendors firmly and professionally, and communicate complex logistics issues to internal leadership
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with frequent project changes
Preferred
Degree in Supply Chain Management or related field
