Responsibilities
Lead, coach, and develop a team of data engineers across ingestion, transformation, and data product development
Manage day-to-day execution including sprint planning, task assignment, workload balancing, and delivery tracking
Partner with delivery and governance leaders to align priorities, timelines, and capacity
Translate architectural designs and standards into executable work items and implementation plans
Ensure adherence to approved architectures, data models, coding standards, and security requirements
Enforce best practices for testing, deployment, documentation, observability, and data quality
Collaborate with analytics, AI/ML, and business stakeholders to translate data requirements into engineering deliverables
Ensure data pipelines and models reliably support dashboards, self-service analytics, and advanced analytics workloads
Support incident response, root-cause analysis, and remediation for data quality, performance, or reliability issues
Provide regular status updates and proactively escalate delivery risks or dependencies
Conduct 1:1s, performance feedback, and career development discussions
Identify skills gaps and support team development in Databricks, Spark, SQL, and modern data engineering practices
Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, collaboration, and delivery excellence
Identify opportunities to improve engineering practices, workflows, and delivery processes
Provide execution-driven feedback to improve standards and governance over time
Qualification
Required
5+ years of experience in data engineering or software engineering with a strong data focus
3+ years of experience managing data engineering or BI teams
1+ year in a team lead, senior engineer, or supervisory capacity with coaching and delegation experience
Hands-on experience with cloud-based data platforms (Azure preferred)
Strong experience with Databricks, Spark, SQL, and data pipeline orchestration
Proven ability to deliver and support production-grade data pipelines and data models
Strong delivery management, communication, and risk management skills
Preferred
Experience in the Oil & Gas industry
