Staff Accountant

Responsibilities

Responsible for the reconciliation of balance sheet accounts including the monthly bank reconciliations
Prepare recurring monthly journal entries
Perform general-ledger account analysis and preparation of adjusting journal entries
Analyze and investigate budget/actual variances on monthly financial reports, and prepare explanations/corrections as appropriate
Prepare annual audit and 990 schedules and documentation
Provide backup support and assist other department functions (A/R, A/P) as needed
Maintain and prepare various contract analyses for internal and external reporting on agency contracts including monthly billing invoices
Special projects as directed
Process weekly payroll for agency (alternating regular and bonus pay cycles) in an accurate and timely manner
Monitor and maintain accurate employee vacation, sick, and floater holiday accruals
Reconcile and remit benefit premiums and contributions in accordance with established timelines
Provide support to staff regarding payroll issues
Process and manage termination checks, retro adjustments, and benefits deductions for employees
Work to promote and support justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion at all levels in the organization
Work to promote a trauma-informed work environment
Actively participate in the quality improvement projects

Required

Under the direction of the Senior Accountant, the Staff Accountant is responsible for various general accounting functions, including processing the agency's payroll, recording and reconciling transactions, and assisting with month-end and year-end close
