The Texas Department Of Criminal Justice is seeking a Drafting Technician II for their Facilities Division in Huntsville, Texas. Government Administration

Responsibilities

Plans, organizes, and reviews work projects; and draws plans and maps by using computer-aided graphics, and revises and adds information as necessary or by instruction
Prepares preliminary and final plans, specifications, estimates, and detailed drawings from field notes, instructions, original plans, proposed changes, diagrams, and other data; prepares estimates and plots from field notes; and makes field measurements and prepares drawings
Assembles construction information and details for plans; and produces contour maps, isometric projections, and miscellaneous sketches
Coordinates work with other staff and departments
Performs a variety of marginal duties not listed, to be determined and assigned as needed

Required

Graduation from an accredited senior high school or equivalent or GED
One year full-time, wage-earning experience in drafting and computer-aided design (CAD) drafting using AutoCAD software
Thirty semester hours from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or by the United States Department of Education (USDE) to include six semester hours in drafting or a related field may be substituted for the required year of experience
Applicants must have completed 90 semester hours at a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by CHEA or the USDE. Additionally, they must be currently enrolled and complete six semester hours in drafting or a related field with a passing grade within one year of their employment start date
Selected applicants who do not have six semester hours in drafting or a related field from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by CHEA or the USDE must sign a Credential Contingency Agreement
Ability to maintain security and integrity for critical infrastructure as it is defined by state law
Knowledge of drafting principles, techniques, and procedures
Knowledge of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry
Knowledge of building construction methods and components
Skill to interpret field notes, sketches, plans, and specifications
Skill to draft plans and drawings
Skill to check drawings, estimates, plans, and design details
Skill to analyze and solve drafting and design problems
Skill in the use of computer-aided drafting and AutoCAD software
Skill to make mathematical calculations and to use the calculator
Skill to plan work in order to meet established guidelines
Ability to walk, stand, sit, kneel, push, stoop, reach above the shoulder, grasp, pull, bend repeatedly, climb stairs, identify colors, hear with aid, see, write, count, read, speak, analyze, alphabetize, lift and carry under 15 lbs., perceive depth, operate a motor vehicle, and operate motor equipment
Conditions include working inside and outside, working around machines with moving parts and moving objects, working around moving objects or vehicles, radiant and electrical energy, working closely with others, working alone, working protracted or irregular hours, and traveling by car, van, bus, and airplane
Equipment (machines, tools, devices) used in performing only the essential functions include computer and related equipment, calculator, copier, fax machine, computer-aided drafting equipment, telephone, dolly, and automobile

Drafting experience preferred
Knowledge of agency and departmental organizational structure, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations preferred
