The Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities (DOT&PF) is seeking an Engineering Assistant 1/2/3 Flex to support various projects aimed at improving transportation safety across the state. Responsibilities

Conducting speed studies to identify safety improvement options
Reviewing capital plans for safety upgrades such as traffic signals, roundabouts, school zones, and signing and striping
Collaborating with agencies and communities on capital project scope development such as School District requests for Safe Routes to School and Alaska Railroad at-grade crossing upgrades
Field evaluations of safety systems including traffic safety corridors audits, road safety audits, fatal crash site reviews

Required

Bachelor's degree with a major in engineering, architecture or land surveying from a postsecondary institution accredited by ABET
Or: A bachelor's degree with a major in engineering, architecture or land surveying from a postsecondary institution not accredited by ABET. AND An Engineer-In-Training (EIT) or Land Surveyor-In-Training (LSIT) certificate issued by a state or the National Council of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors; or verification of passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) or Fundamentals of Surveying (FS) examination
An applicant who will obtain within nine months a bachelor's degree from an institution accredited by ABET, with a major in engineering, architecture or land surveying, will qualify to apply
Bachelor's degree, or the equivalent with a major in engineering, architecture or land surveying from an institution accredited by ABET. AND One year of entry level engineering, architectural or land surveying experience as an Engineering Assistant 1 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere
Or: A bachelor's degree with a major in engineering, architecture or land surveying from an institution not accredited by ABET. AND An Engineer-In-Training (EIT) or Land Surveyor-In-Training (LSIT) certificate issued by a state or the National Council of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors; or verification of passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) or Fundamentals of Surveying (FS) examination. AND One year of entry level engineering, architectural or land surveying experience as an Engineering Assistant 1 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere
Or: Five years of progressively responsible subprofessional engineering experience of which two years was as a Journey level Engineering Technician or Drafting Technician 3 with the State of Alaska, or the equivalent elsewhere
Bachelor's degree with a major in engineering, architecture or land surveying from an institution accredited by ABET. AND Two years of engineering, architectural or land surveying experience of which one year was at the working or intermediate trainee level
Or: A bachelor's degree with a major in a branch of engineering from an institution not accredited by ABET. AND An Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certificate issued by a state or the National Council of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors; or verification of passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination. AND Two years of engineering, architectural or land surveying experience of which one year was at the working or intermediate trainee level
Four years of any combination of ABET accredited postsecondary education in engineering, architecture, or land surveying (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month) and/or engineering, architectural or land surveying experience may substitute for the required degree
Graduate study in engineering or architecture may be substituted for the required experience (2 semester/3 quarter hours equal one month)
A valid Driver's License is preferred but not essential
Engineer-in-training certification or passing of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam is preferred but not essential
