FUEL DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS MECHANIC LEADER
The Department of the Air Force is seeking a FUEL DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS MECHANIC LEADER at Warren AFB. The primary purpose of this position is to lead a team of workers in trades and labor work, ensuring that assigned tasks are completed to standard while also performing the work themselves.

Responsibilities
Leads a team of trades and/or labor workers
Performs work
Performs preventative maintenance (PM), locates and marks underground utility lines, inspects, installs, repairs, modifies, and tests fuel receiving, dispensing, storage, and fuel distribution facilities, systems, and components
As a certified Water Operator/Back Flow Prevention Tester/ Fire Suppression System Technician manages PM, locates and marks underground utility lines, inspects and installs, modifies, repairs, and maintains a variety of water utility, supply, and disposal systems and equipment
Performs duties in a safe manner, utilizing safety practices and procedures, and complying with established safety rules and regulations

The work requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver's license is required for the position
This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance
The incumbent must be able to obtain a Wyoming Level 1 Distribution/Collection System Operator Certification within one year of being hired
The Incumbent must be able to obtain a Wyoming Class A Tank Operator Certification within one year of being hired and maintain certification every five years or as needed by current laws/regulations
Incumbent must maintain Fire Suppression System Maintenance/Inspection, and Backflow Preventer Tester Certifications. Backflow requires recertification every three years
The physical requirements of this position as determined by the manager are: Performs work that involves frequent bending, reaching, crouching, kneeling, crawling, stooping, standing, arm movement, and climbing
Frequently lifts, carries, and sets up parts and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifts items weighing over 50 pounds using jacks, hoists, or helpers
May be required to make repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms and crawl underneath launch control centers to work on emergency survival systems
Works both inside and outside, sometimes in bad weather, temperature extremes, high-wind conditions, and in areas that are noisy, smoky, dirty, dusty, and greasy
Subject to high noise levels, cuts, bruises, falls, burns, scrapes, strains, infections, skin abrasions, hazardous fumes, open flames, flying sparks, and hot metal
May work in close quarters such as trenches, mechanical rooms or attics and confined spaces such as manholes, LCC vaults, and crawl space
Subject to skin irritation from fuels and oils; exposure to noxious fumes or toxic vapors; and danger of fire, explosion, electrical shock, and asphyxiation
Occasionally exposed to the possibility of broken bones. Works around machinery or moving parts
Wears personal protective equipment such as earplugs, safety glasses, respirators, hard hats, safety-toed boots and gloves
Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-4200 Plumbing and Pipefitting Family
The screen out element for this position is the ability to do the work of a FUEL DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS MECHANIC LEADER without more than normal supervision
Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Working knowledge of a wide range of principles, processes, and techniques of trade, technical practices in order to interpret drawings, plan, layout, install, modify, troubleshoot, and repair a variety of complete systems, and of regulations, procedures, and policies related to record maintenance and documentation
Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures
Knowledge of the use and maintenance of tools, equipment, and equipment common to trades and labor work performed by the group being led
Skill in techniques used to measure, cut, thread, join, and fit piping and tubing and use of hand and power tools such as wrenches, pipe threaders, cutters, dividers, chalk lines, drills, grinders, and ground fault interrupter equipment
Troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of system components such as industrial or domestic water and piping systems and equipment, automatic control valves, pumps, flow meters, and electrical components such as electric motors, disconnect switches, starters, contactors, solenoids, and magnetic switches all without more than normal supervision
Skill in performing the trade and /or labor work of the group being led. Fuel distribution/storage, propane, water, gas, and sewer systems; of the physical properties and hazards associated with the handling of various types of fuels, calibration of fuel and propane systems and tank and pressure gauges, waste; and of PM and inspection techniques as applied to fuel distribution/storage, propane, water, gas, and sewer systems
Ability to lead a team of three or more labor or trade employees
Ability to plan and organize work assignments to include determining resources required to accomplish mission
