Building Monitor - overnight shift
Bethesda House of Schenectady, Inc. is dedicated to ending the cycle of poverty and homelessness through holistic care. The Building Monitor role involves ensuring the safety of the building and its residents by monitoring security and assisting with compliance to residential policies.

Responsibilities
Serve as the first point of contact for all building visitors, directing callers and guests as needed, and conduct hourly walk-throughs of the premises
Monitor guest arrivals and ensure compliance with residential program policies regarding curfew, visitors, behavior, and permitted possessions
Activate the Safety Plan or Emergency Plan when necessary
Adhere to all after-hours emergency and notification protocols
Maintain accurate and detailed entries in the log book as required
Facilitate clear communication between staff, visitors, and guests using the phone, paging system, and other communication tools as needed
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Two to five years' prior work experience in a related field
Strong communications skills with the ability to operate the agency phone system in a clear and professional manner
Computer literacy including the ability to work with automated output and the ability to enter data in automated systems
Experience working with the homeless population; people who have mental illness and/or substance abuse history and diverse populations
Ability to recognize and respond to an emergency
Professional demeanor and the ability to represent the agency positively in all interactions, maintain appropriate boundaries and confidentiality
Demonstrated resourcefulness, ability to work independently, and take initiative
Strong conflict resolution and de-escalation skills
Must have access to reliable transportation to and from work
Preferred
Availability to work hours above normally scheduled work hours in an emergency to cover front desk duties is a plus
