Responsibilities
Represent clients in family law matters, including divorce, custody, visitation, child support, spousal support, and property division
Manage cases from intake through resolution, including litigation, mediation, and settlement negotiations
Draft and review legal documents such as pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, settlement agreements, and court filings
Conduct and respond to discovery, including depositions, subpoenas, and document review
Appear in court for hearings, trials, mediations, and conferences
Provide clear legal advice and maintain regular communication with clients
Collaborate with paralegals, legal assistants, and other attorneys to ensure effective case management
Maintain accurate case files and ensure compliance with all court rules and deadlines
Stay current on changes in family law statutes, case law, and procedural rules
Qualification
Required
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
Active license and good standing with the State Bar of North Carolina
Minimum 2+ years of experience practicing family law
Strong litigation, negotiation, and advocacy skills
Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical abilities
Ability to manage a full caseload independently
Professional demeanor with strong interpersonal and client-service skills
Preferred
divorce-focused experience preferred
