Infrastructure Engineer

Southeast New Mexico College (SENMC) is a newly independent public community college accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. The college is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to design, implement, and manage critical infrastructure systems, ensuring safety, reliability, and compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities

Evaluate, design, implement, and maintain enterprise-level emergency management and emergency notification solutions to support campus safety and operational continuity
Design, integrate, and oversee building management systems (BMS), telecommunications systems, and emergency systems, including fire alarms, mass notification, and life-safety platforms
Lead infrastructure planning, design, and implementation for new construction, renovations, and technology modernization initiatives
Manage infrastructure systems and complex infrastructure projects from planning through deployment and lifecycle support
Coordinate and manage relationships with vendors and service providers supporting BMS, fire alarm systems, telecommunications, emergency systems, and other critical infrastructure technologies
Develop, maintain, and enforce technical standards, procedures, and documentation for infrastructure systems
Collaborate with TSS leadership and campus stakeholders, including facilities, safety, and administrative departments, to ensure infrastructure solutions align with institutional goals and compliance requirements
Monitor system performance, reliability, security, and integration across platforms; troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues
Support disaster recovery planning, emergency preparedness, and business continuity related to infrastructure systems
Research, evaluate, and recommend emerging technologies and infrastructure solutions to enhance safety, efficiency, scalability, and resilience
Ensure compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and industry best practices related to safety, telecommunications, and infrastructure systems
Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to IT staff and cross-functional teams
Perform other related duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field
Five (5) years of progressively responsible professional experience in infrastructure engineering, systems engineering, network engineering, or a similar enterprise IT role supporting critical infrastructure systems
Relevant industry certifications and/or demonstrated professional experience with enterprise infrastructure systems, building management systems (BMS), emergency notification systems, telecommunications, or large-scale IT environments may substitute for formal education requirements
Any equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience as approved by the Human Resources Department
