Senior IT Systems Administrator
Advantage Route, Inc. provides operational route accounting software systems for various industries. They are seeking a Senior IT Systems Administrator to lead the internal technology environment, ensuring the reliability, security, and scalability of corporate IT systems while collaborating with various departments to support business needs.
Responsibilities
Own and maintain hybrid infrastructure, including:
On-prem servers, networking, backups, and storage
Cloud-hosted systems in AWS
Ensure high availability, performance, and recoverability of internal systems
Manage operating systems, patching, upgrades, and lifecycle planning
Design and maintain backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes
Maintain clear documentation of systems, configurations, and dependencies
Administer AWS resources used for internal systems (e.g., EC2, RDS, IAM, VPC, S3)
Enforce cost controls, monitoring, and security best practices
Monitor usage, performance, and spending; identify optimization opportunities
Coordinate with Engineering on shared AWS boundaries and access models
Maintain infrastructure documentation and architecture diagrams
Manage legacy customer-hosted single-tenant environments running on AWS EC2, including system monitoring, patching, backups, and access control
Own identity and access management (SSO, MFA, role-based access, AWS IAM)
Manage endpoint security, device management, and vulnerability remediation
Implement and enforce security policies aligned with company standards
Partner with Engineering on compliance, audits, and incident response
Act as primary escalation point for internal security incidents
Oversee internal IT operations including laptops, mobile devices, peripherals, and office/network infrastructure
Ensure timely onboarding and offboarding of employees and contractors
Provide escalation support for complex technical issues
Establish IT support workflows, SLAs, and self-service documentation
Track hardware and software assets, warranties, and refresh cycles
Administer and govern internal SaaS tools (e.g., productivity, support, finance, collaboration)
Manage vendors, contracts, renewals, and license optimization
Identify opportunities to reduce cost and improve tooling efficiency
Ensure data retention, audit logging, and compliance configurations are properly maintained
Qualification
Required
5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure or systems administration
Hands-on experience managing on-prem servers and networking
Practical experience administering AWS environments
Strong understanding of: Windows and/or Linux server environments
Strong understanding of: Networking (firewalls, VPNs, VLANs, DNS, DHCP)
Strong understanding of: Identity systems (Azure AD / Entra, Okta, or similar)
Strong understanding of: Backup, DR, and security best practices
Experience supporting a growing organization with 30–150 employees
Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills
Preferred
Experience in a SaaS or software-centric company
Familiarity with: Device management tools (Intune, Jamf, etc.)
Familiarity with: Security frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001, etc.)
Familiarity with: Monitoring and alerting tools
Prior experience working alongside Engineering and DevOps teams
