Application Development Software Engineer

Responsibilities

Undertake full and complete ownership of designated application components from conception and detailed design to delivery and support
Collaborate with Business Analysts, Application Architects, Developers, Quality Assurance, Engineering, and Vendor teams for design, development, testing, maintenance, and support
Lead, guide and mentor onsite and offshore developers and ensure that the CLS Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) process and Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) requirements are fully adhered to and met
Plan, implement and ensure that delivery milestones are met
Improve business processes and support critical business strategies
Provide solutions using standard design patterns, normative techniques, and industry best practices that meet the typical challenges and requirements of financial applications, including usability, performance, security, resiliency, and compatibility
Proactively identify, recognize, and diagnose system deficiencies and implement effective remedial solutions
Participate in, contribute to, and assimilate changes, enhancements, requirements (functional and non-functional), and requirements traceability
Apply knowledge of industry trends and developments to improve CLS in-house practices and services
Provide Level-3 support, including training, tools, process, etc., to Level-2 and other stakeholder teams

Required

Bachelor's degree or U.S. equivalent in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Computer Applications, Electronic Engineering, or related field
5 years of professional experience as a Software Engineer, Software Developer, or any occupation, job title, or position providing end-to-end application platform and service support
5 years of professional experience developing and executing release and deployment plans, including monitoring, issue remediation, and environment support in a multi-tiered system architecture
5 years of professional experience utilizing core Java technologies (including multi-threading) with Unix-based end-to-end development ranging all the way from coding and version control, through compiling, unit-testing and debugging to profiling and performance tuning
5 years of professional experience identifying, recognizing, and diagnosing system deficiencies and implementing effective remedial solutions to enhance system reliability and user satisfaction
3 years of professional experience utilizing Python or Perl, and Unix shell scripting, SQL, and DBMS (including IBM or DB2)
3 years of professional experience maintaining and supporting level-3 production systems, including technical training, knowledge transfer, and escalation support for level-2 teams
3 years of professional experience utilizing secure coding practices and securing applications
3 years of professional experience utilizing messaging middleware (including IBM MQ or TIBCO EMS) and application servers (including WebSphere or WebLogic)
3 years of professional experience utilizing CI/CD practices and DevOps toolsets (including JIRA, GIT, Ant, Maven, Jenkins, Bamboo, Confluence, or ServiceNow)
3 years of professional experience in application software delivery and maintenance within the Financial Services domain
3 years of professional experience compiling, completing, and analyzing external and internal system capabilities including technical platforms, frameworks, and infrastructure and proposing and documenting prospective developments
