Senior Research/Development Engineer

Kyocera International, Inc. is hiring a Senior R&D Engineer at their San Diego, CA facility. The R&D Senior Engineer is responsible for the design and development of new or modified products, acting as a technical liaison and providing troubleshooting support for projects related to new products and materials.

Responsibilities

Demonstrated proficiency with finite element analysis (FEA) and/or computational fluid dynamics (CFD), preferably using Ansys software tools
Experience with sizing of axial fans, and design of heat pipes and vapor chambers is desired. Active and passive cooling of high heat flux microelectronics
Hands-on mechanical and/or thermophysical measurement testing experience is also desired
Experience with thermal conductivity measurement and IR camera imaging is a plus
Evaluate microelectronics packaging thermal/mechanical performance considering manufacturing needs and product reliability
Interact, daily, with a variety of people from multidisciplinary backgrounds. Able to communicate ideas and manage deadlines effectively
May train and/or mentor technician-level personnel and associate engineers to ensure organizational growth
Interfaces with customers as needed, including giving technical presentations
Perform other related duties as required or assigned

Required

Requires bachelors degree in engineering or related field, an advanced degree is preferred
Requires a minimum of 5+ years of related experience or equivalent in education and experience. Or experience resulting in broad knowledge in a field related to microelectronics
