Financial Analyst, SSC/Det 5 FM

The United States Space Force (USSF) at Peterson Space Force Base is searching for a Financial Analyst to support the financial activities of space sustainment programs. This role involves formulating, justifying, and executing budgets related to the acquisition and sustainment of space weapon systems.

Responsibilities

Serve as a financial analyst, supporting the financial activities of space sustainment programs
Formulate, justify, and execute assigned budget(s) in support of programs related to the acquisition and sustainment of space weapon systems, subsystems, and/or equipment
Demonstrate high levels of strategic thinking and leadership qualifications
Apply a variety of analytical methods and techniques to budgetary processes and special studies
Project and analyze the potential effects of budgetary actions on national economic, social, and/or political objectives
Develop new methods and techniques of budgeting applicable to the forecasting of long range funding needs
Gather, assemble, and analyze data to prepare financial cost estimates, develop alternatives and finding requirements, and make recommendations to resolve financial/funding problems

Required

Must be a U.S Citizen
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
Safeguards classified or sensitive budget-related information and/or files
May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis
Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed 'Unscheduled Telework'
This position will close after 5 business days or 75 applications, whichever comes first
Employee may be required to perform travel by military or commercial passenger aircraft in the performance of temporary duty assignments
PCS funding is not authorized
This is a Financial Management Level (1, 2, or 3) Certified position IAW the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 2012, Public Law 112-81, Subtitle F-Financial Management, Section 1599d
Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): 20 days a year
Employee must within 30-days of assuming this position and by 31 October annually thereafter, file an OGE-450, 'Confidential Financial Disclosure Report.'
This position is designated a NON-CRITICAL APDP position
Knowledge of structure, programs and work methods of organization(s) for budgeting work
Knowledge of the commonly used agency budget procedures, regulations, precedents, policies, and guides
Comprehensive knowledge of OMB, Congressional, and agency financial management and program objectives, budget precedents and controls guidelines, and regulations
Knowledge of Congressional, agency, and OMB budget processes, procedures, and requirements to include briefing formats and requirements
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, with technical accuracy and to use computers and a variety of software programs and databases, gather and analyze a variety of program information, make sound judgments concerning program progress, and effectively communicate recommendations orally and in writing to higher organizational management and contractors
Ability to select and apply a variety of analytical methods and techniques to budgetary processes and special studies
Skill in projecting and analyzing the potential effects of budgetary actions on national economic, social, and/or political objectives
Ability to develop new methods and techniques of budgeting applicable to the forecasting of long range funding needs
Knowledge of budgeting regulations and procedures for providing procedural guidance on budget administration
Knowledge of computerized budget system(s)
Skill in the analysis and resolution of complex problems
Ability to gather, assemble, and analyze data to prepare financial cost estimates, develop alternatives and finding requirements, and make recommendations to resolve financial/funding problems

Preferred

Experience working in CCaR plus doing investments and Weapon System Sustainment from POM to Execution are favorable!
Demonstrated high levels of strategic thinking and leadership qualifications through various efforts, process improvement programs and data and analytics initiatives
