House of Learning Administrative Assistant
Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe is seeking a House of Learning Administrative Assistant to ensure a friendly and courteous environment for children, families, and guests. The role involves providing administrative support, managing schedules, and assisting with communication and organization in the Children's House of Learning.

Responsibilities
Greet children and families in a friendly professional manner either in-person or by telephone to help them have a pleasant and satisfactory visit. Provide resource information, direct them to appropriate classroom and/or program
Contact appropriate program and staff regarding any messages or information needed from families regarding children
Managing the schedule of the Early Learning Director
Maintaining log of visitors
Creating event flyers and managing electronic reader board and TV screen advertisements
Maintaining and assist with electronic attendance for programs and classrooms
Take general messages for the staff and assure that they are delivered in a timely manner
Responsibility for receiving and in dating letters, documents, ect. and routing to appropriate department and individual
Demonstrate knowledge and the ability to model the expectations of confidentiality
Perform general clerical duties to include but not limited to: photocopying, faxing, and mailing
Track & record all incoming mail and deliveries and distribute accordingly
Maintain waiting room cleanliness (windows, dusting, watering plants, etc.)
Maintain proper business attire and a friendly, courteous, positive, professional attitude while working with the general public and others
Other duties as assigned
Filling in for short, staffed positions in the Child Care/Head Start/EHS classrooms
Qualification
Required
Must have a High School diploma or equivalent
One year experience in greeting and working with the public
Must be able to follow direction and guidelines
Must have documented child development education or work experience, or complete required STARS training within six months of hire
Must have First Aid, Adult/Child/Infant CPR, within 30 days of hire
Must have a Food Handler's Permit, within 30 days of hire
Must have HIV/AIDS Blood Borne Pathogen Training
Must meet STARS requirement and be listed in the STARS Training and Registry System, which includes 20 Basis STARS Hours and 10 continuing STARS hours annually
Must have a physical exam which shows a negative TB skin test
Must possess a valid Washington State driver's license
Good personal hygiene and grooming
Absolute adherence to confidentiality
Must excel in organizational abilities
Proficient in MS Office
Must be able to manage completing reports for credit card obligations and gas card obligations
Ability to communicate effectively with the public and in large groups of people
Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time
Must be able to work with minimum amount of supervision under stressful conditions
Ability to effectively interact with a diverse population who may exhibit a wide range of emotions and behaviors
All applicants must have the ability to successfully pass a criminal background, fingerprinting and UA testing prior to employment
Must be able to comply with Lower Elwha Klallam Tribal Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace
Ability to comply with TRIBAL policies and procedures
Indian preference in hiring shall apply in accordance with P.L. 93-638 and Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe Personnel Policies and Procedures
