LAist Podcast Producer, On-Call (Temporary)
American Public Media Group is the organization behind LAist, a member-supported public media network focused on serving Southern California. They are seeking a temporary, on-call Podcast Producer to support the production of the podcast 'Inheriting', which focuses on Asian American and Pacific Islander history.

Responsibilities
Work closely with a full team of professionals to help shape the long-form narrative and focus and episodes of Inheriting Season 2
Perform soup-to-nuts production tasks, including identifying and interviewing sources, field production, booking, prepping hosts, writing initial drafts of long-form episode scripts, researching, fact-checking, processing tape, and sound designing episodes in ProTools
Research ideas for Inheriting, as well as write and edit podcast content (e.g. episode scripts)
Support the host and/or senior producer in field recording and reporting on location
Communicate constantly and clearly with other members of LAist’s Inheriting team and newsroom, as needed
Manage multiple deadlines and responsibilities at once, keeping senior producer, host, editor, producer and others updated
Write content for the website and social media as needed. This includes contribution to video production
Ensure alignment with LAist’s editorial ethics and standards and mission
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree OR equivalent work experience
5 or more years in production, editorial, or related experiences
Experience with audio writing, interviewing, and editing
Experience working collaboratively with creative and editorial talent
Experience with research, reporting, interviewing, storytelling, and sound design
Advanced experience in ProTools, Adobe Audition, or other audio editing software
Experience in Descript
Excellent news judgment
Audio and field production skills
Experienced researcher with excellent writing skills
Proven ability to contribute to a positive, diverse, creative, high performance culture
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Ability to multitask
Ability to evaluate content/quality/sound and act decisively with sound judgment
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work effectively under pressure with a team and to meet deadlines
Critical reading and listening skills are required
Become and remain a member in good standing of SAG-AFTRA by the thirtieth (30th) day of employment
Ability to produce programs that meet LAist standards
Ability to advocate for program/resources/staff
Ability to evaluate content/quality/sound and act decisively with sound judgment
Knowledge of new media applications for digital distribution, audience engagement and community networking
Preferred
Experience producing long-form podcasts for national audiences
Familiarity with the first season of Inheriting
