Senior Design Engineer (Plastics)

StaffEagle LLC is seeking a Senior Design Engineer (Plastics) to lead program-level designs and prototype fabrications for complex enclosure solutions. The role involves managing multiple projects and providing technical support in plastic part design and processing.

Responsibilities

Lead projects from concept through to launch
Provide technical support in plastic part design and processing
Draw and design package preparation and release
Develop requirements and analyses product design data to determine conformance to established design selection criteria, standardized parts and equipment use, and design-to-cost practices
Maintain and upgrade existing products
Establish test plans and execute 3rd party certifications
Lead the development and testing of prototypes for new product ideas and create product specifications
Create and maintain project development plans and create and execute Engineering Change Notices (ECNs)
Lead cross-functional teams to design, develop, test, and redesign existing products
Generate and release full bills of material for manufacturing
Identify non-conformances and root causes to initiate and implement solutions

Required

Bachelor's in mechanical engineering; Master's degree preferred
10 years in Plastics (injection, structural foam moulding)
Strong with 3D CAD Systems; prefers at least 5 years of CREO/Windchill
FEA experience (stress, creep, compression, etc.) using CREO Simulate or Ansys
Familiarity with industry standards including: Telcordia Specification, TIA, SCTE, FOA, etc. and the testing required
Understanding of Product Life Cycle Management, RCA, and 3D printing required
Understanding of Tooling and its design for review with 3rd party tool designers
FRP Composite design and manufacturing desired
Fiber Optics experience desired (patch panel, splice trays, handling, and routing)
Fiber optic measurement (power meter, OTRD, Fiber microscope) desired
SPE member desired
Knowledge of MS Project and Visio desired
Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
