Responsibilities
Responsible for managing the financial tax reporting, tax planning and tax compliance functions in order to optimize the tax obligations of the company. Relies on experience and judgement to accomplish these tasks
Manages the impact of tax policies on corporate financial results
Advises on the tax aspects of strategic corporate goals and objectives and keeps management informed of tax opportunities and the tax aspects of pending decisions
Completes and files returns with taxing jurisdictions, both in the US and various states, in a timely manner
Responsible for coordinating communication with local state and federal tax agencies
Coordinates and supports the impact of Avista’s tax implications on the consolidated group of companies (regulated and non-regulated) and works with the regulated accounting team on tax compliance and tax planning functions
Qualification
Required
A bachelors' degree in accounting, finance, business or a related field
7 or more years of related experience. Tax preferred
Comprehensive knowledge and demonstrated experience in accounting practices and federal, state and local tax theory and administration
Demonstrated advanced level of technical expertise and independent decision making
Requires the capacity to work effectively with peers, external agencies, and management
