Safety Coordinator

Strive Pharmacy is dedicated to providing personalized healthcare solutions and is seeking a Safety Coordinator to assist in the administration and improvement of their Safety and Health Program. This role involves developing safety policies, conducting site safety assessments, and leading safety training initiatives to ensure compliance and enhance the safety culture across the organization.

Responsibilities

Draft, revise, and implement comprehensive safety policies and SOPs. Focus areas include hazardous drug handling (USP <800>), Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) operations, machine safeguarding, and emergency response
Identify gaps in current safety protocols and lead initiatives to enhance the safety culture. Work to standardize safety systems and work practices across all organization sites to ensure a unified safety experience
Perform regular, documented site safety inspections and audits of the pharmacy and warehouse floors. Evaluate the effectiveness of existing controls and verify adherence to OSHA, EPA, and state-specific regulations
Proactively identify physical, chemical, and ergonomic hazards. Collaborate with operations teams to implement the 'Hierarchy of Controls' (Elimination, Substitution, Engineering, Administrative, or PPE)
Assist in the continuous improvement of an engaging safety program. Deliver training to diverse audiences, including pharmacy technicians, warehouse associates, and leadership teams (e.g., Spill Response, Respiratory Protection, and Utility Knife Safety)
Participate in and/or lead safety meetings with teams across the network. Facilitate the sharing of 'Lessons Learned' and best practices between sites
Assist in the maintenance of documentation required for regulatory compliance, including fit testing and online medical evaluations for respirator users, and data collection for reporting
Investigate safety incidents and near misses to identify root causes and implement preventive measures
Lead emergency drill training and ensure all employees understand emergency response procedures

Required

1-4 years of experience in an EHS or Safety role
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field
Strong understanding of OSHA 29 CFR 1910 (General Industry)
Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional departments
Adequate writing/typing skills for SOP development
Ability to present safety topics to varied group sizes and audiences
Ability to spend significant time walking and standing in both pharmacy (clean room/lab) and warehouse (industrial) environments
May require lifting of up to 25 pounds

Preferred

Experience in a dual-environment (Healthcare/Clinical + Industrial/Logistics)
Professional certification (e.g., ASP, GSP, or OHST)
Familiarity with pharmaceutical standards preferred (e.g., NIOSH, USP)
Ability to implement standardized systems across multiple locations or departments
Occasional routine travel to sites to perform assessments or facilitate training
